Cookie policy

Last updated: June 2, 2026

1. Introduction

This cookie policy explains how CircleResume, operated by Dumitrache Florentin-Cristian Persoană Fizică Autorizată (PFA) ("we", "us", or "our"), uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website and use our online resume builder at circleresume.com (together, the "Site"). It explains what these technologies are, which ones we use, why we use them, how long they last, and the choices and rights you have to control them.

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep the Site secure and working — these are required for the Site to function and do not need your consent. Any non-essential technologies, such as optional analytics, are only used if you agree to them through our cookie banner or preferences. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time, as described in the How to manage cookies section below.

This policy should be read together with our Privacy policy and our Terms and conditions. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where required by law, ask for your consent again.

2. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit it, and that can be read back on later visits. They are widely used to make websites work, to keep them secure, and to remember your preferences. Cookies can be:

  • Session cookies: Temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies: Cookies that remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.
  • First-party cookies: Cookies set by the website you are visiting (CircleResume).
  • Third-party cookies: Cookies set by a domain other than the one you are visiting.

Similar technologies

Besides cookies, websites can use other technologies that store or read information on your device, or that recognise it, without necessarily saving a traditional cookie file. Where this policy refers to "cookies and similar technologies", this includes:

  • Browser storage (such as localStorage and sessionStorage): used to remember small pieces of information in your browser. For example, we use your browser's session storage to remember that you have dismissed the cookie banner during your current visit.
  • Request-based identifiers: a value, such as a temporary hash generated from your request, used to recognise a visit without storing a cookie on your device. Our optional analytics provider uses this method instead of cookies (see Section 3).

3. Cookies we use

We use cookies and similar technologies in two categories, based on their purpose: strictly necessary (essential) technologies, which are always active because the Site cannot work without them, and optional analytics, which we only use with your consent. We do not use advertising or marketing cookies (see Section 4). The tables below list what we use, how long it lasts, and why.

a) Essential cookies

These cookies are strictly necessary for the Site to function. They enable core features such as authentication, security, and user preferences. All essential cookies are first-party (set by CircleResume) — we do not use third-party essential cookies. We do not require your consent to use them, and they cannot be disabled, because they are exempt from consent under applicable e-privacy rules as strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested. They are never used for any other purpose.

CookieTypeDurationPurpose
__Secure-better-auth.session_tokenFirst-party7 daysKeeps you signed in to your account. Required for authentication.
cookie_consentFirst-party12 monthsStores your cookie preferences so the consent banner does not reappear on every visit. Uses Secure flag when served over HTTPS.
sidebar_stateFirst-party7 daysStores whether the app navigation sidebar is expanded or collapsed (true or false) so your layout preference is remembered on return visits.
better-auth.*First-partySessionBetter Auth framework cookies used for CSRF protection and secure authentication flows (e.g. callback URL during sign-in).

b) Analytics and similar technologies

In addition to cookies, we use analytics technologies that do not store cookies on your device but collect anonymous usage data. These are optional and switched off by default — they are only activated if you give your consent (legal basis: your consent) via our cookie banner or preferences. You can withdraw your consent at any time. Where the provider processes data outside your country, this is explained in Section 6.

TechnologyProviderStoragePurpose
Vercel Web AnalyticsVercel Inc. (USA)No cookiesCollects anonymous, aggregated data such as page views, referrers, and general device, browser, and country information. With your consent, our analytics events may also include the non-identifying onboarding categories you selected (such as country, industry, goals, and referral source), which we use only for our own internal product analytics. We do not sell or share this data with third parties for their own purposes. No cookies are stored on your device, and the data is not associated with your IP address. Visitors are identified by a temporary hash that resets every 24 hours. Data may be processed outside your country.

4. Cookies we do not use

For transparency, CircleResume does not use:

  • Advertising or targeting cookies
  • Social media tracking cookies
  • Cross-site tracking technologies
  • Third-party marketing cookies

CircleResume does not sell, share, or trade any data collected through cookies or similar technologies, and we do not use them for advertising or marketing purposes. The only external recipient of optional analytics data is our analytics provider, which acts as our processor (service provider) under a data processing agreement and does not sell that data or share it with third parties for their own business interests. For more on this provider and international transfers, see Section 6.

5. How to manage cookies

You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject cookies. You can manage your preferences in the following ways:

Cookie banner

When you first visit our Site, a cookie banner will appear allowing you to accept all categories (essential cookies and optional analytics), accept only essential cookies, or customise your preferences. Withdrawing your consent is as easy as giving it: clicking "Cookie settings" in the footer of landing page reopens the banner so you can review or change your choice at any time, including turning optional analytics off again.

Browser settings

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or alert you when a cookie is being set. Instructions for common browsers:

Clearing your browsing data through these settings will also remove information stored in your browser, such as session storage used by our cookie banner. Please note that disabling essential cookies may prevent you from using certain features of the Site, such as signing in to your account.

Because our optional analytics does not use cookies (it relies on a temporary request-based hash), blocking or deleting cookies in your browser will not turn analytics off. To control optional analytics, use the cookie banner or "Cookie settings" described above.

6. Data transfers and your rights

International data transfers and your data protection rights (such as how to access, object to, or withdraw consent for the processing of your personal data, and the safeguards used when data is processed outside your country) are explained in detail in our Privacy policy. Please refer to it for full information on these topics.

7. Updates to this policy

We may update this cookie policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the technologies we use, or legal requirements. The date shown under "Last updated" at the top of this page always indicates the current version, and any changes take effect when posted here.

If we start using new non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we will ask for your consent again through the cookie banner before activating them, and we will provide any additional notice required by law. We encourage you to review this policy from time to time.
